2008
2008 was another banner year as the team finally convinced the school to give us permission to tour- and off we were to beautiful Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Cardinals made history as the 1st side went 2-0 on tour with convincing wins over Club Champagnat and San Isidro Club (SIC). With players returning with three years of National tournament experience, the standard was to win our first Northeast title and take a shot at the single high school National Championship. Captains Paul Jarvis (All-American U19), Geoff Kalan and Michael Martino pushed this team to dominate all opponents except for one. The team plowed through the quarters and semis with wins over Keio, NY and McQuaid, NY at the Northeast Championships. This set up what everyone wanted to see (well- at least we wanted to see it), another showdown with the Xavier Knights Prep School of NY. The boys battled and lost 22-13 in the final. Four years in a row going to the final match from three different rugby unions is something to be very proud of. The team did not go to nationals this year but was able to capture the first state championship in Connecticut with a number of promising teams developing in the state.
